Meet Marko Budrovac, a Flockjay Tech Fellow from our seventh class and current SDR for hire. Marko speaks Serbian, English, and German fluently, understanding some Spanish, Italian, and French. He shared a few details about his journey with us below.

What did life look like before you found Flockjay?
I was born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia where I earned my law degree. After a decade-long instability in my native country, I wanted a better life for myself. In 2009, I moved to New York City, where I was fortunate enough to gather my sales and customer-facing experience through various industries. I realized that I especially enjoyed the tech sales aspects of my job, whether it was performing discovery with antique dealers through a web portal, or building rapport with insurance policyholders. I also wanted to continue learning and was able to enroll in Yeshiva University, Cardozo Law School intellectual property law program.
As a lifelong tennis athlete, I believe that my competitive spirit kept me going through all the difficulties in my life. I competed in high school and law school in Serbia. I got my tennis coach and referee certification in Serbia.
A few fun facts: My friends call me walking Jukebox as I remember a lot of lyrics. I also love playing board games and computer games. I grew up playing D&D and Warhammer, love strategic simulations, and single-player role video games. My favorite video games are Total War, Elder Scrolls, Witcher 3, and Civilization.
What accomplishments are you most proud of?
Some past accomplishments I am most proud of include:
- Living and working in NYC for 5 years and in LA for 6 years. I was determined to succeed in becoming an American! I had to be able to learn how to survive with no help from friends or family, how to deal with my finances and make new friends.
- Managing and reviving a West Hollywood tennis location which saw an increase of 300% in total customer number and 4x increases in group classes over the period of one year.
- Speaking German fluently, a language that I love and is one of the most difficult ones to master. It requires hard work, determination, and curiosity.
- Getting my master’s degree in IP law, which honed my fast reading and writing skills in English.
- Getting accepted into Flockjay which gave me the hope to finally be able to get into tech sales.
What most excites you about a future SDR role?
Learning about new tech products and software and applying my sales knowledge and skills to help businesses increase their value. I’m excited about setting targets for myself and working to reach them. I look forward to creating long term relationships with my clients and becoming someone they can trust.
Advice for someone who wants to break into tech?
Stay curious! Set a goal and go get it! Tech is constantly developing and it is our future, so there is space for you too! The only thing that is standing between you and your dream job in tech sales is your attitude.
