As Flockjay charts our path forward in the workplace, it is with the utmost pride that we share the stories of our Tech Fellows. Meet Crystal Jackson, a Flockjay Tech Fellow from our eighth class and current SDR for hire. She shared a few details about her journey with us below. Her sales trainers had this to share:

What did life look like before you found Flockjay?
My life before Flockjay consisted of working on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as the Residential Manager for Chinatown Community Development.
Though I love my work, I sought out Flockjay under the recommendation of a close friend and Flockjay employee. I sought a new path, a new career in which I would put my experience in sales to better use. When my friend suggested that I apply for Flockjay, I was immediately intrigued at the hopes of aligning myself with more knowledge to be successful.
What past accomplishments are you proud of?
In 2016, I opened my own catering company. My passion for food, hospitality and love for the community allowed me to touch the hearts and bellies of many. This experience taught me how to start up, operate and manage my own business.
In 2018, I began working in women’s health, promoting holistic alternative health treatments such as V Steam, Non-Invasive Lipo, and Body Contouring.
In 2019, I became a 1st generation home owner.
In 2021, I earned a 5 years Certificate of Service for my work with Chinatown Community all while putting myself through Flockjay.
What excites you most about a future SDR role?
When I think about my future in an SDR role, I’m super excited to finally showcase my potential. I am excited to break down barriers as a strong black female stepping into the sales world. I look to align myself with a company that I truly can stand by.
My hunger to learn and advise burns so fiercely that I know that this is the path for me. I am excited to grow, travel and advance. I know that the possibilities for me are endless. Most importantly, I am excited to make lasting relationships with people from all over the world.
Advice for someone who wants to break into tech?
If I had any advice, I would say be dedicated. Be fearless. Be curious. Be hungry. Be unapologetic and don’t let anything get in your way. Be your authentic self.
